1 Corinthians Daily Reality Translation & Commentary

1 Corinthians 2
1 When I shared Christ with you I did not speak eloquent words or try to convince you using human wisdom.
2 Instead my sole purpose was to reveal to you Jesus Christ crucified.

Our sole purpose when sharing the gospel should be to reveal Christ.

3 I came to you in weakness, timid and trembling.
4 I did not speak with persuasive words of human wisdom, but I demonstrated to you the Spirit and of power.

Our words are meaningless unless God inspires them to speak directly the hearts of those we are speaking to.

5 I did this so that your faith would completely depend on the power of God instead of being based on the wisdom of men.

What is your faith based on? Listening to sermons and reading Christian books is important but ultimately we should seek to hear from our Father. As we seek God , He leads us to the right books or resources that will directly and personally speak to our hearts.

6 Yet I speak with words of God’s wisdom among those who are spiritually mature. This is the polar opposite of the wisdom of this world that comes from the powers of this world that will be destroyed.
7 We speak the wisdom of God revealing what has planned God since the foundation of the world. Until now God has kept this plan secretly hidden but he has now revealed it to us so that we might share his glory.

Before the foundation of the world, the Father saw you His most precious child and His daily intervention throughout all history has been bring us into a deeper relationship with our heavenly Father. The Fathers deepest longing is to be able to share His glory and all that He is with His children. He is waiting and yearning for us to come to a place of maturity where He can share all of His power, glory and majesty with us.

8  None of the principalities or powers of this world knew about this secret plan because if they if knew they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 Scripture reminds us, No eye has seen, no hear has heard and the human mind can not even begin to comprehend the incredible plans the Father has for those who love him.

God’s plan for our personal lives and corporate plan for His bride is far greater than anything we can begin to imagine. Since we cannot even begin to comprehend it is impossible for us to live this plan on our own. The only way to live in God’s plan is to completely surrender every area of your life and allow God to direct your steps and daily empower you to live beyond human ability. Supernatural empowerment is a prerequisite and absolutely essential to live out God’s plan for your life.

10 God reveals his plans for our lives through the Holy Spirit. For the Spirit searches our hearts and longs to reveal to us the deep things of God.

The Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force or a spiritual gift giving genie. God has given has His Spirit to daily empower us and guide us in His perfect plan for our lives.

11 You cannot know another person’s thoughts unless they share them with you. In like manner, no one can know God’s thoughts unless the Holy Spirit reveals it to you.

Without the Holy Spirit it would be impossible to know God’s thoughts and plans for our life! Without God’s Spirit you will aimlessly wander through life and miss out on God’s plan.

12 You have not received the spirit of the world. Instead God has given you his Spirit to enable you to understand and fully walk in your inheritance as a child of God.

God has sent His Spirit to lead and guide us into all truth. God’s Spirit unlocks and daily empowers us to live in our complete spiritual inheritance as children of God.

13 By the Holy Spirit (not by human wisdom) we also speak trying to reveal God’s plan to you by comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 Operating in your human wisdom prevents you from receiving spiritual understanding from the Holy Spirit. For spiritual things seem like foolishness to our natural minds and only those who are spiritual can comprehend what the Spirit is saying.

Our natural senses perceive what is temporal but our spiritual senses accurately perceive eternally reality. We need God to continually recalibrate our perception so we can accurately see and live in what is real and eternal.

15 Those who are spiritually wise are able to accurately judge and respond to every situation. However, no person can judge them.
16 For can know the mind of the Lord, who knows enough to teach God? Yet Christ has given us His mind to enable us to live every moment of our lives from his perspective.

Is it possible to clearly know God’s will? Are you aware that you have full access into Christ’s mind? Whenever you struggle with your thought life begin to claim this promise over your life.

Father awaken our hearts and raise us up to live our entire lives in Christ and literally share His mind. Enable us to see how He sees and think how He thinks. Father your word is true and I claim this promise over my life. Empower me to live every moment with the mind of Christ, that I would not have a single thought, word or action contrary to Christ. Jesus I long to so close to you that I know your heartbeat and share your every thought.

1 Corinthians  3
1 When I first came to you I could only speak to you in natural terms because you were spiritual infants and would not understand spiritual terms.
2As babies I could only feed you the most basic Christian doctrine (milk) because you could not digest or understand deeper truths (meat). And even now you are still are not ready to understand deeper truth.

The Father longs to share the deepest secrets of His hearts with His children. God is so passionate about spiritual maturity because He longs to share His heart, power and glory with His children. As a passionate Father he is longing for the day when we can justly govern all of creation as He planned from the very beginning.

3For you are still controlled by your lower nature because you are jealous and quarrel with each other. These divisions demonstrate you are still living like the rest of the world being controlled by your lower nature.
4Also you still argue, I am following Paul or I am folllowing Apollos. This is how people of the world would act!
5Who is Paul, or Apollos? We are only messengers of the Greater One, who have been called to deliver his message of grace to you. Each of us are only servants of God following our divine assignments.

Ministry is essential to the body of Christ. We must remember all ministers are only representatives of God. Don’t get caught up in following a person, only follow God.

6I have planted the seed of God’s word in your heart, Apollos watered it; but God alone has made your faith grow.
7It doesn’t matter who planted or watered the seed. Only God can make the seed grow!
8The one who plants and the one waters the seed are united in the same purpose. Both will be rewarded for fulfilling their God given assignment.

This is a beautiful picture of different members of the body of Christ functioning as one unit to fulfill God’s purposes in the earth. Jesus is waiting for His body to unite together as one to fulfill God’s eternal plan in the earth. The Father, all the angels and all creation are waiting and longing for Christ’s body to become the complete expression of Jesus Christ in the earth.

9As God’s workers we labor together with God. You are God’s field he is making fruitful and you are God’s temple he is working to complete.  Our job is to help complete you.
10God has given me grace (divine empowerment) as a spiritual architect to lay the foundation of your faith and then someone else will help you build upon this foundation. Let every person be very careful how they build on this foundation.

Just like building a house, God uses many individuals to help build our faith.

11The foundation is already laid and it is Jesus Christ. No one can lay a different foundation.

Our foundation in life must be Jesus Christ. If our Christian life is based on emotion, doing good works,  pious devotion or anything else our faith will not endure. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the only source of all passion, joy and motivation to live the Christian life.

12Every person uses different materials to build on their foundation. Foolish people build temporal kingdoms with wood, hay and straw by pursuing the things of this world. While the wise store up an eternal inheritance of gold, sliver and precious stones.

What type of foundation are you building? Examine every detail of your day yesterday. For every action you took yesterday ask yourself was this action motivated by a desire to build any earthly or eternal home? Part of building for eternity is working hard to provide natural provisions for our family to ensure they have a stable environment that will impart to them a love for God.

13However, on judgment day, fire will reveal how much of your life was invested into eternity and how much of your life you wasted living for temporal things.
14You will receive a reward, based on the amount of your life you invested into eternity.
15But the moments you wasted living for temporal things will be forever lost and consumed by eternal fire. You will be saved, but you will have absolutely nothing to show for your earthly life.

How is it possible to read this scripture and keep living for temporal things when you know at the end of this life all those things will be forever lost? As human beings we are insane creatures because the majority of us devote our entire lives to pursuing earthly treasures that we cannot take with us when we die. Even to the unbeliever it is insane to live this way because every knows they will one day die. But for the believer living this way is completely insane because we can invest in our eternal future now. Time not money is our greatest investment. Every moment we live for eternity is a wise investment and every moment we spend doing anything else is forever wasted.

What changes do you need to make to devote every moment of your existence into investing for eternity?

16Are you aware your body is God’s temple, and the Spirit of God lives in you?

In the Old Testament God’s temple was considered the most sacred place on earth. No one would even dare to bring anything that might defile God’s temple. Do you realize the Creator of the universe has chosen you as his most holy temple? Are you living a life that is worthy of this great honor?

17If any one defiles the temple of God, God will severely punish  him. You must live a holy and pure life because you are the temple of God that must be kept holy.

If God’s temple is not revere and honored he will not be present there. If you desire God’s presence you must ensure live pure and holy and ensure the temple of your heart is completely set apart for God alone.

18Do not deceive yourself. If you think you have worldly wisdom, you need to become a fool to the world that you may truly be wise.
19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. This is why scripture says, He entraps the wise in the snare of their own craftiness.
20And again, The Lord knows the thoughts of the worldly wise, and their thoughts are completely useless.

As finite human beings our wisdom is very limited. Pride is the greatest flaw of mankind. We think we know a lot more than we do. We think we can explain the origins of the universe and many other details of life. As long you think you know, you will never discover God’s wisdom. He reveals His secrets to the humble who recognize they know nothing and are nothing apart from God.

21Therefore do not glory in human wisdom or ability. For God has made all things in heaven and on earth yours!!

Do you realize as a child of God you are the rightful heir to everything in the universe?

22God has given you authority over all things including life, death, the present world and the world to come. (It doesn’t matter if Paul, Apollos or Cephas has helped you grow in the faith.)
23For you live in Christ and Christ lives in God the Father.

As we  live in Christ we actually dwell in the eternal Godhead. If you live in Christ and Christ lives in God our lives are divinely intertwined with the Father Himself.

1 Corinthians 4
1 We live as servants of Christ who have been assigned the mission of sharing God’s secret plan.

As a child of God your earthly assignment is to share God’s heart and plan with the world.

2 Each individual must be faithful to complete the mission God has assigned them.

Do you realize God has divinely planned and purposed your earthly life before you were even born. God put you on the earth at this specific time in history for a specific purpose. Additionally, he has equipped you with the necessary giftings and provision to complete your mission. God has put you on the earth for such a time as this. He is calling you to be an Esther or Daniel in your generation.

3 I am not concern what anyone thinks about me because it only matters what God thinks about me. 4 Even my own opinion about myself does not matter for God alone is the judge.

We need to continually ask God to awaken our hearts to see our lives from His perspective because our own thoughts and point of view is highly distorted.

5 As God alone is judge so you must not judge anyone before the Lord comes.
For God alone can expose the hidden things of darkness and reveal what is in the heart of every person. When He comes every person will praise God.

The heart is deceptively wicked above all things. We should not judge others but we should continually pray and ask God to give us insight and wisdom to help and discern the hearts of others.

6 Do not to create conflict by valuing one teacher above another one.
7 For what difference does it makes who taught you? Everything you have is from God! And if everything you have is from God, why would you boast that you received it from one of us?

Our continual focus must remain solely fixed on our heavenly Father.

8 If you are spiritually rich and complete then you are beginning to reign as kings of God without us. I wish you did reign with God so then we could also reign with you.
9 But I think maybe God has planned for us apostles to appear last in God’s victory parade. We have been made a public spectacle before men and angels like God’s prisoners of war who are held hostage until the war is finally over.
10 We are considered fools for Christ’s sake, but you have become wise in Christ; we are weak, but you have become strong in Christ; you have become honourable in Christ, but we are despised by the world.
11 Even in this present hour we are hungry, thirsty, beaten, poorly clothed, and we have no home.
12 We work very hard with our own hands to earn a living. We bless those who curse us and we patiently endure those who persecute us.
13 When people blaspheme us we continue to compel them to follow Christ. To this very day we are treated like the worlds garbage and scum of the earth.

I cannot even begin to fathom the intense passion and devotion of the early church. When Christians live with this type of devotional and passion they will turn the world upside down. The Father is waiting and yearning for his children to become this serious. He is waiting for the great commission to become our great conviction.

14 I am not writing these things to shame you, but to warn you as my beloved children.
15 For even though you may have ten thousand spiritual teachers, you do not have many spiritual fathers. I became a spiritual father in Jesus Christ to you when I shared God’s message with you.
16 As I spiritual father I implore you to follow my example.

We desperately need spiritual fathers with the intense devotion and love of the apostle Paul.

17 For this reason I have sent Timothy, my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, to remind you of how I live for Christ, which I teach in every church I visit.
18 I hear some among you have grown arrogant and do not think you need me to visit again.
19 But Lord willing, I will come to you soon and find out if these individuals are all talk or if there are really living in God’s power.
20 Those who live in the power of God, live a divinely empowered life fully surrender to God.  Mere words or mental ascent to God is not enough.

Is your faith based on mere words or have you personally experienced the power of God?

21 What will you choose? Will I have to come with a rod to correct you, or will I be able to come with love and a gentle spirit to commend you in your faithfulness?

Paul was referring to disciplining disciplining other believers, however in a more global sense how will we live our earthly lives. Many Christians spend their lives living however they want but what will happen at the end of this life.

Are you allowing your Father to discipline you so you know when your earthly life ends you can approach God will full assurance that you will be blameless in His sight. Or will He have to discipline you for the way you lived your earthly life.

1 Corinthians 1
1A letter from Sosthenes and Paul who has been appointed by God’s perfect plan to be an apostle of Jesus Christ.
2I am writing to the church of God in Corinth and to all true believers in Jesus Christ everywhere. According to God’s perfect plan you have become his very own children who have been purified and set apart in Christ Jesus.

God’s plan is not merely to save us from destruction but empower us to receive and walk in our full inheritance as His children. As His children He has called us to set apart our entire life apart and live every breath and every heart beat for Christ alone.

3 God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ send divine empowerment and peace to you.

Your Father desires to continually empower you to daily live beyond your own human ability. Will you allow Him to take control and empower you to live beyond your wildest dreams?

4I continually thank God for you and the grace (divine empowerment) he continually provides to you through Jesus Christ;
5Through grace your Father divinely empowers every facet of your life, providing you with wisdom, understanding and spoken words to fulfill his plan.

Your Father desires to empower every facet, every detail, every area and every waking moment of your life. Are you allowing God’s empowering grace to permeate every area of your life? What areas do you need to more completely surrender? What practical steps can you take to allow God’s empowering grace to work in a greater capacity in your life?

6God’s grace at work in your life is proof that Christ lives in you.

Is your daily existence a vibrant demonstration that Christ lives in you? The deeper you walk in a relationship with Christ, the more your life will become a reflection of Him.

7The gift of grace prepares and continually empowers to live in anticipation of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Are you looking for a greater revelation of Jesus Christ everyday? Living in anticipation of the coming of Christ is not passively waiting or trying to calculate a future date. Living in anticipation is to pursue a deeper more intimate relationship with Jesus. He longs to come into our lives and further reveal Himself to us more and more each day.

8Christ will continually empower you to the end, enabling you to be pure and holy in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Growing in a personal relationship with Christ is the key finishing the race and reaching the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus. As we grow in relationship Christ will continually empower us to live pure and holy lives that are pleasing to Him.

9God has personally called you into his family through a relationship with his Son Jesus Christ, so you can be certain he will faithfully keep you.

Do you realize how deeply your heavenly Father cares for you as His precious child? Ask your Father to reveal to your heart the depths of His love for you.

10Now I implore by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, live at peace with each other and refuse to let anything create division among you. Instead be united in thought and purpose actively pursuing Christ.

True unity can only be accomplished when individuals possess a passionate desperation to pursue Christ.

11For some individuals from the household of Chloe have informed me there is arguing and conflict among you.
12 You argue about who you are following some saying, I follow Paul or I follow Apollos or I follow Cephas or I only follow Christ.
13Can Christ be cut up into pieces? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

1 Corinthians 1

1A letter from Sosthenes and Paul who has been appointed by God’s perfect plan to be an apostle of Jesus Christ.

2I am writing to the church of God in Corinth and to all true believers in Jesus Christ everywhere. According to God’s perfect plan you have become his very own children who have been purified and set apart in Christ Jesus.

3 God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ send divine empowerment and peace to you.

4I continually thank God for you and the grace (divine empowerment) he continually provides to you through Jesus Christ;

5Through grace your Father divinely empowers every facet of your life, providing you with wisdom, understanding and spoken words to fulfill his plan.

6God’s grace at work in your life is proof that Christ lives in you.

7The gift of grace continually empowers to be prepared and live in anticipation of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

8Christ will continually empower you to the end, enabling you to be pure and holy in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9God has personally called you into his family through a relationship with his Son Jesus Christ, so you can be certain he will faithfully keep you.

10Now I implore by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, live at peace with each other and refuse to let anything create division among you. Instead be united in thought and purpose actively pursuing Christ.

14I thank God I did not baptize any of you, (except Crispus and Gaius)

15Otherwise some of you might claim you have been baptized in my own name.

16(I also baptized the family of Stephanas but I cannot recall if I baptized anyone else.)

17For Christ did send me to see how many people I could baptize, but to preach his Gospel. I do not preach by the power of my own strength or understanding because the cross of Christ is made powerless if it is preached through human ability.

18The message of the cross is complete foolishness to those who do not know God; but to those who are saved the cross provides us with the power of God.

19This is why Scripture says, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and destroy the intelligence of the intelligent.

20For what have the philosophers, writers and critics accomplished with their worldly wisdom? Compared to the wisdom of God, doesn’t the wisdom of this world seem like complete nonsense?

21Since the world by its “wisdom” was unable to find God, God in his wisdom used the childlike simplicity of the Gospel message that seemed too simple to the “wise”, to save those who believe.

22For the Jews demanded miracles, and the Greeks required a scientific or philosophical proof,

23But we preach Christ crucified which offered the Jews and seemed like complete nonsense to the Greeks.

24But to all who have accept God’s salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power and wisdom of God.

25Through this plan God has demonstrated the “foolishness” of God is far wiser than any human wisdom and the “weakness” of God is stronger than all human strength.

26Remember when God called you not many of you were wise, powerful or wealthy in the worlds eyes.

27But God chose what the world considers foolish to shame the wise and God chose what the world considers weak to shame the strong.

28God chose what the world despises and considers of no value, to bring to nothing what the world considers important.

29God has done this so no one can ever boast of their own human ability in his presence.

30But to those in Christ, God also has revealed himself to us making us righteous, holy, giving us all wisdom and redeeming us.

31So as scripture says, If you are boasting in anything, boast only in the divine empowerment God has given you.

1 Corinthians 2

1 When I shared Christ with you I did not speak eloquent words or try to convince you using human wisdom.

2 Instead my sole purpose was to reveal to you Jesus Christ crucified.
3 I came to you in weakness, timid and trembling.

4 I did not speak with persuasive words of human wisdom, but I demonstrated to you the Spirit and of power.
5 I did this so that your faith would completely depend on the power of God instead of being based on the wisdom of men.
8  None of the principalities or powers of this world knew about this secret plan because if they if knew they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 Scripture reminds us, No eye has seen, no hear has heard and the human mind can not even begin to comprehend the incredible plans the Father has for those who love him.

10 God reveals his plans for our lives through the Holy Spirit. For the Spirit searches our hearts and longs to reveal to us the deep things of God.

11 You cannot know another person’s thoughts unless they share them with you. In like manner, no one can know God’s thoughts unless the Holy Spirit reveals it to you.
12 You have not received the spirit of the world. Instead God has given you his Spirit to enable you to understand and fully walk in your inheritance as a child of God.

15 Those who are spiritually wise are able to accurately judge and respond to every situation. However, no person can judge them.

16 For cam know the mind of the Lord, who knows enough to teach God? Yet Christ has given us his mind to enable us to live every moment of our lives from his perspective.

1 Corinthians 3

1As you are still infants in your Christian life, I could only speak to you in natural terms because you would not understand spiritual terms.

2As babies I could only feed you the most basic Christian doctrine (milk) because you could not digest or understand deeper truths (meat). And even now you are still are not ready to understand deeper truth.

11The foundation is already laid and it is Jesus Christ. No one can lay a different foundation.

12Every person uses different materials to build on their foundation including gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay and straw.

16Do you realize that all of you are God’s temple, and the Spirit of God lives in you?

17If any one defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. You must live a holy and pure life because you are the temple of God that must be kept holy.

21Therefore do not glory in human wisdom or ability. For God has made all things in heaven and on earth yours!!

22God has given you authority over all things including life, death, the present world and the world to come. (It doesn’t matter if Paul, Apollos or Cephas has helped you grow in the faith.)

23For you live in Christ and Christ lives in God the Father.

1 Corinthians 4

1 Consider us servants of Christ who have been assigned the mission of sharing God’s secret plan.
2 Each individual must be faithful to complete the mission God has assigned them.
3 I am not concern what anyone thinks about me because it only matters what God thinks about me. 4 Even my own opinion about myself does not matter for God alone is the judge.
5 As God alone is judge you must not judge anyone before the Lord comes. For God alone can expose the hidden things of darkness and reveal what is in the heart of every person. When he comes every person will praise God.

6 I used myself and to Apollos as an illustration to teach you not to create conflict by valuing one teacher above another one.
7 For what difference does it makes who taught you? Everything you have is from God! And if everything you have is from God, why would you boast that you received it from one of us?

8 If you are spiritually rich and complete then you have begin to reign as kings of God without us.

14 I am not writing these things to shame you, but to warn you as my beloved children.
15 For even though you may have ten thousand spiritual teachers, you do not have many spiritual fathers. I became a spiritual father in Jesus Christ to you when I shared God’s message with you.
16 As I spiritual father I implore you follow my example.

20 Those who live in the power of God’s, live a divinely empowered life fully surrender to God.  Mere words or mental ascent to God is not enough.
21 What will you choose? Will I have to come with a rod to correct you, or will I be able to come with love and a gentle spirit to commend you in your faithfulness?

1 Corinthians 5

1There are many reports there is sexual immorality among you that not even the pagans would do.  I have heard a man is even living in sin with his father’s wife.

2You take pride that you are living higher standard but your heart should be weeping in anguish over the sin committed in your church. Your should also remove this man from among you.

3Though I am not physically with you, I am with you in the Spirit. Being present in the Spirit I have already judged on this man

4In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. You must gather the members of the church together. I will be with you in Spirit in addition to the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ,

5At the meeting you must deliver him to Satan so his even though his body will be corrupted and destroyed by the powers of sin his spirit may yet be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

6Your arrogance and tolerance of this situation is a severe concern. Are you not aware a little yeast will corrupt the entire batch of dough (entire church congregation)?

7You must eliminate the “old yeast” of the wicked person in your midst. Then you will be a new and pure batch of dough made without yeast.  For even Christ our Passover Lamb sacrificed for us (the Passover meal was always eaten with bread without yeast).

8Therefore let us keep the Passover feast, not with filled with the yeast evil and wickedness, but with the pure unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

9Remember I wrote to you before and told you not even to associate with people who live in sexual immorality.

10But I was not talking about the immoral people of the world who indulge in sexual immorality, greed, cheating and idolatry. For you would have to leave the world completely to avoid such people.

11This command was in regards to relating to other believers. If any person claims to follow Christ but lives in sexual immorality, greed, idolatry, is abusive, is an addict, or cheats people do not even eat with this individual.

12It is not your job to judge the lives of people outside of the church. God alone will judge them. But it is your responsibility to judge those living in sin within the church.

13As scripture says it is your responsibility to “remove evil people from among you.

1 Corinthians 6

1If you have a dispute with another believer, do not even consider filing a lawsuit and allow a secular court to judge instead of taking this issue to other believers.

2Are you not aware someday believers will judge the world? Surely you can resolve minor problems if you will one day judge the world.

3One day we will even judge the angels! So you should certainly be capable of resolving minor issues in this life.

4So why would you allow outside judges not respected by the church, to judge and solve your legal disputes?

5I speak this to shame you. Is there anyone in the church wise enough solve these disputes?

6Instead you file lawsuits against each other. What kind of witness is this to unbelievers?

7It is not right to even have lawsuits against each other but even worse that you allow unbelievers to judge you!  It would be better to accept injustice or cheated than to allow unbelievers to judge you.

8For when you take each other to secular court, you are doing him wrong and cheating him.

9Have you forgotten those who do wrong will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived those who live in sexual immorality, idolatry, adulterery, homosexuality,

10greed, drunkenness or continually abuse, cheat and steal from people will not inherit the kingdom of God.

11In your past life some of you were like this. But now you have been washed, you have been made holy and you have been put in right relationship with God in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of God.

12Free from the law I am free to do anything, but not everything is beneficial. Though I am free to do anything I refuse to become a slave to anything.

13Food was made for the stomach and the stomach for good but both are temporal and will one day pass away. Our bodies were made for the sole purpose of glorifying God. He cares very deeply about your body and he lives in you, so you must not corrupt your body in anyway.

14Just as the Father raised Christ from the dead, he will also raise up us by his own power.

15Are you fully aware that your physical body is a part of Christ’s body? Imagine if you as a part of Christ had union with a harlot? God forbid.

16If a man joins himself with a prostitute they come one body. For Scripture says, “the two shall become one body”.

17But individuals who are joined with the Lord become one with him in spirit.

18To stay united with the Lord, avoid all sexual immorality.  All other sin is done outside the body, but sexual immorality is sin against your own body.

19Wake up! Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost who lives in you. God rightly fully owns your body and you have no right to abuse it!

20For God has purchased you with the ultimate price of the sacrifice of his own Son. Now you must live every moment to glorify God in your spirit and body because God they rightfully belong to God.

1 Corinthians 7

1In regards to the letter you wrote me, it is good to abstain from sexual relations.

2However to avoid sexual immorality every man should have his own wife and every woman should have her own husband.

3The husband must faithfully serve his wife and in like manner the wife must faithfully serve her husband.

4Since they have united as one body in marriage, neither husband or wife has authority over their body, as their bodies mutually belong to each other.

5Do not deprive each other of sexual relations unless you mutually decide to abstain for a time to devote yourselves to prayer and fasting. After you should come together again or else you will succumb to the temptation of Satan.

6I speak this only as advice and not a command.

7I wish all were single like me. But God has given each person a unique calling and gifts.

8To those who are unmarried and widows, it is good to stay unmarried just as I am.

9But if they find they cannot remain this way let them marry. It is much better to marry than to burn with unsatisfied desire.

10To those who are married I command by the Lord, A wife should not leave her husband.

11If she leaves her husband she must remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband.  The husband must dare to leave his wife as it is his responsibility to provide for his wife.

12Now I will speak to the rest of you but not by a direct command from the Lord. If a brother has a non-Christian wife as long as she is willing to live with him, he must not leave her.

13The Christian woman who has an unbelieving husband should not leave him as longing as he is willing to live with and respect her.

14The unbelieving husband is sanctified by his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by her husband. Without your redeeming presence your children would be corrupted but your sanctifying presence keeps them holy.

15But if the unbelieving partner departs, let them depart. In this situation the Christian husband or wife is no longer bound to their partner. For God has called us to live peace.

16Do you realize that your unbelieving spouse might be saved because of you?

17Continue to live in whatever circumstance the Lord has given you and stay in the condition you were in when God first called you.

18If a man is circumcised before coming to Christ, he should not try to change it.  If someone who is uncircumcised comes to Christ they should not be circumcised.

19Being circumcision or uncircumcision makes no difference to God. God is only concerned with that we obey his commandments.

20Again I say let every person remain as you were when God first called you.

21Art you a slave? Don’t worry about it but if you are offered freedom, accept it.

22Even if you are a slave, you are now free in Christ. Also those who were to free and followed their own will, you are now a slave of Christ.

23 God has purchased you with the ultimate price of the sacrifice of his own Son. So serve him faithfully and do not be enslaved to the world.

24As final reminder let every person remain as when you were first called by God.

25To those who are unmarried, I have no command from the Lord for you, yet I submit to you my personal advice as a faithful servant of the Lord who has obtained mercy.

26Considering the present calamity, I recommend you remain the same as you are.

27If you have a wife continue in your marriage. If you do not have a wife, do not seek one.

28But if you do get married, this is not a sin. If a young woman gets married this is also not a sin. Although those who get married in the present calamity will experience challenges, so I am trying to save you the trouble.

29My friends know beyond a shadow of a doubt the time that remains is very short. For this reason, even those who are married must focus only on the Lord and give themselves wholly to his kingdom mission.

30Those who are experiencing joy or sorrow should be fully aware of how short time is and focused on fulfilling the Father’s mission. Invest all of your possessions into the kingdom mission because very soon they will be gone anyway.

31Do not become attached to anything in this world because  everything in this world is soon passing away.

32Live free from the cares of the world that distract you from God’s mission. An unmarried person is able to fully devote themselves to pleasing their Father and fulfilling his kingdom plan.

33Those who are married must always think about their earthly commitments and how to please their spouse.

34However, those who are unmarried are able to completely devote themselves to the Lord and be holy in body and in spirit.

35These are not rules but only my suggestions. Let every decision you make in life be guided by this simple rule: How can I serve the Lord most effectively with as few distractions as possible?

36If those who are engaged are struggling to stay pure, they should get married for this would prevent them from sinning.

37If individuals who are engaged has control over their own desires and there is no urgency to marry, they do well to remain engaged.

38So then he who gives her in marriage does well; but he who does not give her in marriage does even better.

39A wife is bound to her marriage as long as her husband is alive. If her husband dies she is free to be married to a believer in the Lord.

40Personally I think she will be happier to stay single and I think the Spirit of God is bearing witness to this also.

1 Corinthians 8

1Now I will address the topic of anything that is sacrificed to idols. We all have our own understanding and opinions about this issue. But remember knowledge only makes you feel spiritually mature, but only love can strengthen your faith and make you mature in Christ.

2If someone thinks they know everything, they are deceived and in reality know very little.

3But if you love God, he personally knows you as his precious child.

4So, in regards to eating anything sacrificed to idols, we know in reality only one true God exists and idols are only a figment of the human imagination.

5Though there are countless idol “gods” and “lords in heaven or on earth,

6We know there is only one true God, the Father who created everything. We live in our Father through our one Lord Jesus Christ through whom God created all things. Through Christ we also have been made a new creation.

7Although not all believers clearly understand this. Some have been so conditioned to believe idols are real that eating food sacrificed to idols degrades their weak conscience.

8You cannot win God’s favor by what you eat. So then it doesn’t matter if you eat or abstain from eating the food sacrificed to idols.

9But carefully ensure your freedom does not cause those who are weak to stumble.

10For if others see you with a mature understanding eating in the temple of an idol, those of weak conscience will be encouraged to violate their conscience and also eat food offered to idols.

11So the effect of fully living in your “freedom” might lead a weaker believer who Christ has died for to perish.

12When you sin against other believers by leading them to violate their weak conscience, you are actually sinning against Christ.

13So if something I eat causes another believer to sin, I will never eat such a food again because I would never want to cause another believer to stumble.

1 Corinthians 9

1Is there any doubt that I am an authentic messenger of God? Is there any question that I live free in Christ? Have I not personally seen Jesus Christ our Lord with my own eyes? You yourselves are living proof my faithful ministry to the Lord.

2Even if others do not recognize me as a messenger of God, there should be no question in your minds God has sent me as a messenger to you. For you are the living proof that I am an apostle of the Lord.

3This is my defense to anyone who questions if I am really sent by God.

4Don’t we have the right to eat and to drink?

5Should we not also be able to travel with a Christian wife like Cephas and the other Christian messengers of the Lord?

6Are Barnabas and I, the only apostles who are expected to work for a living to support ourselves?

7Does any person who works in the military responsible to raise their own support?  Doesn’t the person who plants a vineyard also enjoy the fruit of his labor? Or doesn’t a shepherd who cares for his flock also have legitimate claim to the milk of the flock?

8Am I merely speaking on my own authority or does God’s law say the same thing?

9For the law of Moses says, You must not muzzle an ox to prevent it from eating while it treads out grain. Has God only made provision for oxen?

10Or was he speaking this command to us? For he writes directly in another place in Scripture, both the person who plants and the one who threshes the grain should both receive a portion of the harvest.

11If we have planted spiritual seed into your hearts, supplying our physical needs pales in comparison to the portion of the harvest you have received?

12If you feel compelled to support others, shouldn’t you be even more compelled to support us? Nevertheless we refuse ask for anything because we would rather suffer than hinder the spreading of God’s message.

13Are you not aware those who minister in the temple and serve at the alter of the Lord get a share in the offerings presented there?

14In the same way, the Lord has designed those who preach the gospel should be supported by those who receive it.

15But I have never used any of these rights and I do not write this to compel you to support me now. I would choose death before being known by others as someone who uses the gospel for their own benefit.

16I cannot boast about preaching the gospel because it is only God who compels and empowers me to do so. I would fall under God’s judgment if I did not faithfully obey his calling.

17If I preach the gospel by my own choosing, I should expect a reward. But if God has called me to this mission,

18What then is my reward? Truly my greatest reward if preaching the gospel of Christ without asking for money. This is why I never demand my rights when I am sharing the gospel of Christ.

19Though I am a free man, I made myself servant to all people to win more people to Christ.

20To compel the Jews to follow Christ, I lived like a Jew when I was with them. To compel those living under the law of Moses, I lived like them (even though I am free from the law).

21To those who have no law, I myself become a man without the law, to compel those who have no law (but I do not live wildly for I am constrained by God to live under the law to Christ,).

22When I share Christ with those who are weak, I empathize with their weak, to win them to Christ.  My goal is to be relevant to every person I encounter and do all I can to lead each individual into a relationship with their heavenly Father.

23My sole purpose in life is to fulfill God’s mission by sharing his message and so I can share in the reward of a job well done with all of you.

24Consider an Olympic marathon, many individuals run but only one person wins the race. Live your life with the spiritual intensity of a marathon runner who is striving to win the gold medal.  (how many Christians are content to win silver or bronze. For many their goal is only to finish the race some place some how…)

25Marathon runners devote their entire lives to train to win a temporal crown that has no eternal value. Yet how many train as intensely and devote their lives to pursuing their eternal crown that will last forever.

26I wake up every morning motivated by the sole purpose of winning my eternal crown. This life is not practice or a rehearsal, but we are in a real fight and a real race.

27I disciple my body and train with the spiritual intensity of an Olympic athlete. If I do not personally train, even after preaching to many others I could be disqualified from the race.

1 Corinthians 10

1My friends do not forget about our ancestors who God delivered from Egypt (a type of being delivered from the world). God miraculously parted the sea and they walked across the riverbed on dry ground. His presence also guided them in the desert in the form of a cloud.

2In the cloud and sea, God baptized all of them with Moses as their leader.

3All of them received the same spiritual food,

4and they all drank the same spiritual water. For they drank of that spiritual rock that accompanied them and this rock symbolized Christ.

5However, despite experiencing incredible miracles and provision they failed to please God and most of them died in the desert wilderness.

6We need to learn from Israel’s mistakes and ask God to continually change the desires of our heart, so our hearts do not crave evil as they did.

7Do not make Israel’s mistakes. They refused to personally encounter God for themselves and distorted his deity, worshipping him in the form of a golden calf. As the scripture records shortly after this, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play”.

8They also committed sexual immorality causing 23,000 of them to die in a single day.

9Most importantly do not exploit God’s grace. When Israel did this many of them were killed by poisonous snakes.

10Do not dare to murmur or complain where God has put you as Israel did in the desert. Because of their disobedience they were destroyed.

11Remember all these things were recorded to warn us who live in the final chapter of history. It is imperative to study Israel’s history and learn from their mistakes.

12If you think you are too smart or strong to make the foolish mistakes Israel did, be very careful because pride always comes before a fall.

13You will never experience circumstances beyond what you can bear. God faithfully watches over us and promises to never put you in a situation beyond what you can handle. When you are tempted to sin, God will always provide a way out.

14My friends at all costs avoid any form of idolatry.

15I speak to you as wise individuals, so carefully consider what I am saying.

16When we share cup of blessing at the Lord’s table aren’t we sharing the very blood of Jesus Christ? And when we break the bread aren’t we sharing the very body of Jesus Christ?

17Sharing at the communion table makes us united as one body.

18Even the Jews experience a special fellowship between those who share the sacrifices at the altar.

19What food sacrificed to idols? Does the food offered to the idols have any significance or this mean that those idols are real gods? Of course not!

20But the things the Gentiles sacrifice to nonexistent idols, they are actually sacrificing to devils and not to God. You must have no fellowship with devils.

21For you cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of devils. You eat at the Lord’s table and also at the table of demons.

22Would you dare provoke the Lord to jealousy? Do you think we are stronger than he is?

23In Christ you are free to do anything, but only do that which encourages and builds your relationship with God. You can do anything but don’t do anything that will inhibit your relationship with God.

24Consider the well being of others instead of trying to provide for yourself.

25Eat whatever food is sold in the marketplace with a clear conscience.

26For the earth is the Lord’s, and he created everything in it.

27If an unbeliever invites you for a meal, feel free to accept the invitation and eat whatever they serve with a clear conscience.

28But if someone tells you this food has been sacrificed to an idol, do not eat that you may be a godly witness to those around you. Even if your conscience does not object to eating such food, do not eat it for the sake of the people around you.

29Some of you might wonder why your freedom should be limited or subjected to another individual’s conscience.

30Or why someone could criticize you for living in freedom and eating food sacrificed to idols with a clean conscious thanking God for the food he has created.

31Live in such a way that God is glorified in everything you do (even in common, everyday occurrences like eating or drinking). 32Be mindful of your actions and audience conducting yourself in a manner to ensure no one is offended in your presence whether they are believers or unbelievers.

33I seek to earn every individuals respect, not for personal benefit, but only so I would have a greater chance to lead them to the Lord.

1 Corinthians 11

1Pattern your lives after my godly example of living a life completely sold out to Christ.

2My friends I want to thank you for how deeply you care and think about me. I am also very excited to hear you are diligently following the biblical instruction I shared with you.

3I would like to share more with you now. God created marriage to reveal our relationship as the bride of Christ. So just as the head of the woman is the man, the “head” of every man is Christ. In the same way the head of Christ is God.

4Every man who praying or prophesying with a covering over his head is symbolically dishonoring his true head Christ.

5But if a woman prays or prophecies with her head uncovered she it would be just as disgraceful her head was completely saved.

6If she refuses to cover her hair, she should cut off all her hair. But if it is a shameful thing for a woman to have short her, she should wear a covering.

7Men should not cover their heads when they worship God because they were created in the image and reflect the glory of God. And the woman is the crowning glory and completes the man.

8For the first woman was created from the ribs of the first man.

9Man was not created for the woman; but the woman was created to complete the man.

10For this reason and also because the angels are watching a woman should have a covering on her demonstrate she is under authority.

11But in the church men are incomplete without the women and women are incomplete wthout men.

12Though the first was woman was made from the ribs of a man, now every man is born from a woman. However all things originate and have been created by God.

13Use your own judgment, do you think it is right for women to pray to God without a covering on their head?

14Doesn’t human nature make us feel long hair for man is dishonorable,

15But a women with long hair is considered gloriously beautiful? In this way, God has provided her with a natural covering for her head.

16If anyone disagrees with this is our general custom and also the custom of the churches of God.

17Regarding the next issue of Lord’s supper, I am very disappointed with your conduct because when you gather together you do more harm than good!

18I hear that when you come together to worship God you are divided into your own little cliques.

19Sadly there must be division among you, so the ones who are honoring God can be separate from the others.

20When you meet together you do not regard or honor the Lord’s supper.

21Some of you take hoard all the food so some are left hungry and others are drunk.

22What can I possibly say about this? Don’t you have food and drinks at your own house? Or do you really despise God’s church and seek to shame the poor? I am speechless and appalled by your actions.

23I will pass onto you what God has personally revealed to me. “On the night he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took bread

24And after he gave thanks to God, he broke it saying, This is my body which is broken for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

25In the same manner he took the cup after supper and said “this is the cup of the new covenant that has been confirmed by my blood. Do this in rememberance of me.

26For every time you eat this bread, and drink this cup, you make known the Lord’s death until he returns.

27Therefore if anyone eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.

28You must examine yourself before eating of the bread and drinking of the cup.

29For if you are not honoring God or the body of Christ, you are eating and drinking God’s judgment upon yourself.

30In fact this is the reason so many of you are weak and sick and some have even passed away.

31If you judge yourself, God would not discipline you.

32As a loving Father, God disciples us to ensure we will not be condemned with the rest of the world.

33In conclusion my friends always wait for each other and share the Lord’s supper as united members of one body.

34If you are hungry, have a snack before you come to avoid bringing judgment on yourself when you meet together. I will give you further instructions in person when I visit.

1 Corinthians 12

1My friends, now I want to share more details with you about spiritual gifts so you would clearly understand and live in your giftings.

2In your past life you were caught up in the worship of dumb, lifeless idols.

3I want you to know that unless the Holy Spirit is in you, you cannot declare Jesus is Lord. In like manner, no one speaking by the Holy Spirit is able to curse Jesus.

4There are a variety of spiritual gifts because the same Holy Spirit gives different gifts to different people.

5We each have different gifts of service but we all serve the same Lord.

6God works differently through each one of us but it is the same God who works through all of us.

7Each individual is responsible to be a faithful steward of the gifts the Holy Spirit gives them.

8The Holy Spirit gives gifts to each person such as spiritual wisdom, the ability to speak with spiritual knowledge, 9faith, ability to heal, 10ability to do great miracles, prophecy, vision into the spiritual realm, ability to speak in other languages and the ability to interpret other languages.

11The Holy Spirit is the source of all spiritual gifts and provides every individual with the divine empowerment to operate in different areas according to God’s will.

12The human body is composed of different parts that all perform an essential task to keep the body alive. In the same manner every individual in the body of Christ is a unique “body part” with a unique function that is essential to the survival and growth of Christ’s body.

13Regardless if an individual used to be Jew, Gentile, enslaved or free, we have all been baptized into one body by the Holy Spirit who lives in each one of us.

14The body of Christ is composed of many unique “body parts” who each have a specific function.

15If the foot doesn’t feel like it is important or even part of the body saying “since I am not the hand, I am not part of the body”, this does not change the fact that it is still a connected and vital part of the body.

16In the same way if the ear says, “since I am not the eye, I am not part of the body”, would it suddenly be able to disconnect from the body?

17If every member of your body is an eye, how would you hear? If you had fifty ears and no nose how would you smell?

18In his wisdom God has placed every member in the body of Christ, to enable the body to function at maximum capacity and bring glory to him.

19The body of Christ would be totally ineffective if we were all the exact same body part.

20Thankfully he has created us as unique members of the same body.

21So the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of you. The head cannot say to the feet, I have no need of you.

22Very often body parts that appear weakest and least important are the most necessary.

23Often the parts which we regard as less honorable require the greatest care. So carefully protect and honor the parts which are not seen.

24The more prominent parts do not require this special care. According to his brilliant design God has fastened the body together to ensure special honor and care are provided to the less prominent parts of the body.

25This ensures there are no deficiencies in the body but every member cares and provides for each other.

26When one member suffer, all the members suffer with it. If one member of the body is honored, all individuals in the body rejoice.

27You are a special essential member in the body of Christ.

28God has appointed each member of the body to serve in the church as apostles, prophets, teachers, gifts of miracles, gifts of healings, hospitality, leadership and speaking in “tongues”.

29Are all apostles, prophets, teachers, workers of miracles, 30gifted in healing or speaking and interpreting tongues? Of course not. God designed the body of Christ with the same principals he designed the human body with. Every “body part” is unique and is necessary to the survival and growth of Christ’s body.

31Earnestly seek the highest spiritual gifts but I will show something even greater you must pursue! God’s agape love.

1 Corinthians 13

1If I could speak with the greatest eloquence of all men or even of angels, without God’s love, my words only sound like crashing cymbals or a repetitive monotone instrument.

2If I possessed the gift of prophecy to know the future, understood all the secret plans of God, knew everything about God and have the faith to instantly move a mountain, I am useless and unable to accomplish anything significant for Christ’s kingdom, if God’s love is not inside of me.

3Even if I give everything I own to feed the poor and willing giving my body to be burned, without God’s love inside of me, my efforts are completely futile.

4The love of God never runs out of patience and always seeks to help others. With God’s love in your heart you will not be jealous, boastful, proud or rude. 5You will never pursue your own self interest, become easily irritated or be quick to point out the faults of others.

6Those who are permeated in God’s love despise injustice and only rejoice in the truth.

7With God’s love inside your heart you will be able to endure every circumstance, trust God completely and confidently expect to see God’s deliverance in every area of your life.

8God’s love inside of your heart is the only thing that will endure for all of eternity. Prophecies will one day all be fulfilled and forgotten. If there are tongues they will no longer be needed and all your present knowledge will dissipate when you see God face to face.

9We do not fully comprehend God and so all prophesy is only a distant glimpse of God’s plan.

10But when we are made complete, the partial things will be pathetic and worthless.

11When I was a child, my ability to think and express myself was very limited. When I became an adult I was able to express myself and clearly comprehend the world I lived in.

12Presently we are spiritual children who only see in part but when our beings are fully awakened we will know God as deeply and intimately as he knows us. Now our communication and understanding of God is limited like staring through a dark window but after we will see him face to face.

13Three things will endure for all eternity faith, hope and God’s love. But the greatest of these is the agape love of God.

1 Corinthians 14

1So actively pursue the love of God and desire spiritual gifts especially the gift of prophesy.

2For individuals who speak in an unknown tongue are only able to God because he is speaking mysteries by the Holy Spirit which no person is able to understand.

3But individuals who prophesy strengthen, exhortation, and encourage others.

4Individuals who speak in an unknown tongue only strengthens themselves. But those who prophesy strengthens the entire church.

5I desire that you all could speak in tongues but I desire more that you would be able to prophesy. For greater prophesy is greater than speaking in tongues unless someone is able to interpret what you are saying so that the entire might be strengthened.

6Is there any benefit if try to share God’s message with you by speaking in tongues? Of course not because you would not be able to understand me. But if God inspires me to share with you revelation, knowledge, prophesy, teaching this will strengthen you.

7Even inanimate instruments like the flute or harp must be played notes clearly otherwise it will just sound like meaningless noise.

8If the trumpet does not give a distinct sound the soldiers will not be aware they need to prepare for battle.

9It’s the same with people. Unless you clearly communicate your message with words that can be easily understood no one will understand what you are saying. There is no point in speaking at all unless others around you can understand what you are saying.

10There are many languages in the world and each language is able to effectively communicate ideas.

11However if I am trying to converse with someone of a different language, we will not be able to understand each other.

12This also applies to you spiritually. Though you are passionately seeking spiritual gifts, ensure the gifts you are pursuing will strengthen everyone in the church.

13If someone is speaking by the Holy Spirit in an unknown tongue, they should pray for the understanding to interpret what they are saying.

14When I pray in tongues, my spirit is communicating with God but my natural mind does not understand what I am saying.

15Therefore it is important to pray in the Spirit and in words your mind understands. Likewise, sing in the Spirit and also sing with words your mind understands.

16Because if you only praise and thank God in the spirit how can those around you know what you are saying and join together with you to praise and thank God?

17Speaking in the Spirit you will earnestly be giving God thanks but the people around you cannot be strengthened because they don’t know what you are saying.

18I thank God, I speak in tongues more than all of you.

19But yet when I meet with other believers, I would rather speak five words that will encourage and strengthen others than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

20Be like innocent children in regards to knowing anything about evil. But do not be childish in your understanding of spiritual matters. But seek to grow to full spiritual maturity all spiritual matters.

21Regarding speaking in tongues God promises in scripture “I will speak to my people in other tongues and through the lips of foreigners. But even then they will not listen to me.”

22So through scripture we can see that speaking in tongues is a sign, not to other believers, but to unbelievers. Prophesying, on the other hand is primarily for the strengthening of believers.

23Although if unbelievers or those who don’t understand tongues, come into your assembly and hear everyone speaking in tongues, they will think you have gone mad.

24Also unbelievers might come into your assembly while you are prophesying and God speak through you to convict of their sin and compel them to follow him.

25As they listen the secrets of their hearts will be exposed and they will fall on their face to worship God. God will use prophesy to convince unbelievers that God is truly inside of you.

26In conclusion, my friends everything done in a corporate gathering must endeavor to strengthen all believers who are present. When you gather one may sing, another teach, another speak in tongues and another should interpret what is being said.

27At most only two to three individuals should speaks in an unknown tongue per meeting. Individuals will speak one at a time and another must interpret is said.

28But if no one is able to interpret, you should only speak in tongues to God but not to the entire church.

29Let two or three individuals prophecy and the rest of the congregation should ensure the words spoken line up with scripture.

30If God reveals a revelation to another person, the individual prophecying must stop and allow the this person to speak.

31This will ensure everyone God is speaking to will have a chance to speak one at a time so everyone will learn and be encouraged.

32Individuals who prophecy must be in control of their spirits.

33For God is a God of order and peace, as displayed in the gatherings of true believers.

34Women should remain silent in the church because it is not proper for them to speak. As the law says, they must follow these instructions.

35If they have questions they should ask their husbands at home because it is a shame for women to speak in church.

36Do you question this? Do you think God’s word began with you? Are you the only ones God has spoken to?

37If you are prophet or spiritually mature you will recognize what I have written you is the direct commandments of the Lord.

38But if anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.

39So earnestly desire to prophesy and be open to the Holy Spirit’s leading to speak in tongues.

40Ensure all things be done in an honest and orderly fashion.

1 Corinthians 15

1My friends I would like to remind you of God’s message I shared with you before. You received this message with open arms and stand firm in it until this day.

2By hearing the good news of Christ you have been saved given that you sincerely accepted Christ and are living faithfully espoused to him. For you must continue to remain faithful as Christ’s bride.

3I shared with you the message God revealed to me, that Christ died for our sins just as the scriptures say.

4As scripture reveals Christ was buried and rose again on the third day.

5He was seen by Peter and then all twelve disciples saw him.

6Again he appeared to over five hundred believers at once. The majority of these believers are still alive today but a few have passed away.

7After this James saw him and then all of the apostles saw him again.

8Last of all I personally saw him, as he appeared to me because I was born out of due season.

9For I am the least of the apostles. I am not every worthy to be called an apostle because of how I persecuted the church of God.

10Only by God’s grace (divine empowerment) has my life been totally transformed. The grace (divine empowerment) he has so freely given to me is not vain because it have diligently labored more than anyone else. In my own ability I have accomplished nothing. Only the grace (divine empowerment) of God has enabled me.

11It doesn’t matter who preaches all that matters is that you hear and believe in Christ.

12Now if we preach Christ has risen from the dead, how can some of you say there is no resurrection of the dead?

13If there is no resurrection of the dead then Christ has not risen either.

14And if Christ has not risen then our preaching and your faith is completely worthless.

15If this is so, we would be lying about God because we have testified that God has raised up Christ from the dead. But this cannot be true if there is no resurrection from the dead.

16If those who die do not rise, then Christ has not risen either.

17And if Christ has not risen, your faith is useless and you are still dead in your old life of sin.

18Consequently, all who have died in Christ would also be forever lost!

19If there is nothing beyond this life then we who hope in Christ are living the most foolish and pathetic life of all human beings.

20But Christ has risen from the dead and he is the first to experience resurrection from the dead with all of God’s children following close behind him.

21Through Adam death entered the world and through Christ also the hope of rising from the dead has also entered the world.

22As descendents of Adam we are members of a sinful race of people who are destined to die, but through Christ we have become a new race of people who will be raised to life and live forever.

23There is an God’s order to the resurrection. It begins with the first fruits of Christ and then all who belong to Christ will be resurrected when he returns.

24Then the present age will end and the Kingdom age will begin. When Christ has conquered every ruler, authority and power he will hand over the kingdom to God the Father.

25For Christ must reign until he has put all enemies under the feet of his body, the church.

26The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

27For scripture says “God has put all things under his feet”.  Naturally when God declares he has put all things under the authority of Christ, this does not include God himself because he gave Christ this authority.

28When all things are under the authority of Christ, the Son will submit himself under God’s authority because it was God who gave him this authority in the first place. Then all creation will be restored to its intended state where God administrates his perfect will over everything in the entire universe.

29If the dead do not rise then why are you baptized for your dead loved ones? Unless the dead are raised there is no point in baptizing those who have already died.

30If the dead do not rise, then surely we would not continually risk our lives to share Christ.

31I promise you in Christ Jesus our Lord, that I face death every day for the sake of the gospel.

32If there is no resurrection from the dead I would have never gone to Ephesus to speak to those people who seemed more like wild beasts! If there is no resurrection, it would be most logical to feast and drink, for tomorrow we die!

33Do not be deceived by people who talk like this, “for bad company corrupts good character”.

34Awake to a right relationship with God and stop distancing yourself from God by your sin. It is a great tragedy and shameful that some of you do not know God at all.

35Some may be wondering, How are the dead raised? And what kind of  body do they have?

36What a preposterous question! Just like when you plant a seed in the ground, it cannot grow into a plan until the seed first dies.

37When you sow a seed you do not sow the “body” or plant that it will eventually produce. Rather you sow a tiny seed that will grow into the plant or “body”

38So your earthly body is only the seed that dies and grows into your true eternal “body”. Resurrection is as simple as gardening. You will grow into a new body after the likeness of the seed that was planted.

39For all flesh “seeds” are not the same. There are different flesh “seeds” such as that of human beings, animals, fish and birds.

40There are also earthly bodies and heavenly bodies. The glory of the heavenly bodies cannot be compared with the glory of the earthly.

41In the same way the sun has one type of glory while the moon and stars each have a different type of glory that is unique to each one of them. Even each individual star contains a differs in glory compared to other stars.

42These are all illustrations of the resurrection of the dead. The body is “sown” in corruption (by physical death) but it is raised to immortal splendor.

43Our bodies buried in brokenness but they are raised in glory. They are buried in weakness but they are raised in power.

44Our bodies are buried as mortal human body but they are raised as spiritual bodies. Just as there is natural body, and there must also be a spiritual body.

45This is the reason scripture says, “The first man, Adam required God to breathe life into him to become a living being; but the last Adam (Christ) is himself a life-giving spirit to all humanity.

46As God has ordained in all creation first the “seed” of the natural body is planted, then the spiritual body grows after the seed dies.

47Adam, the first man, was made from the dust of the earth but the second man Jesus Christ is the Lord from heaven.

48Earthly people are like Adam and those who belong to Christ, the heavenly man, are just like him as heavenly beings.

49Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, in Christ we also bear the image of the heavenly.

50Now my friends, I assure you it is impossible for our physical bodies cannot inherit the kingdom of God. For that which is subject to moral decay cannot inherit eternal glory.

51But now I will reveal to you a secret from God. We shall not all experience physical death but we will all be transformed.

52We will be changed instantly at the last trumpet. In the blink of an eye, the trumpet shall sound, and the dead will complete their transition into complete eternal, immortal beings.

53For our decaying bodies will be transformed into bodies eternal, unchanging bodies beyond decay and our mortal bodies will be transformed into immortal bodies.

54So when our decaying mortal bodies have been transformed into eternal, immortal bodies our lives will be fulfilling this scripture, “Death is defeated up in the victory of the saints”.

55O death, you can no longer hurt us! O grave you no longer have any power over us!

56The effect of sin is death. Sin is like a lethal poisonous snake bite poisons the entire body and causes to death. The law gives sin its lethal effect.

57But thanks be to God, who has given us the victory over death and sin through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58Therefore, my friends be permanently fixed and live confidently in the victorious life Jesus Christ has won for you. Let your life be an overflow of God’s divine work as you know only moments lived for eternity will never be ever lost or wasted.

1 Corinthians 16

IIn regards to the collection of money, follow the instructions I have given to the churches in Galatia.

2On the first day of the week you should set aside funds in relation to the amount of money God is blessed you with. This way there will be no need to collect it all when I come.

3When I come, I will write letters of recommendation for those you have selected to you’re your financial gifts to Jerusalem.

4If God leads me to also go to Jerusalem, I will accompany them also.

5I will come to you after I complete my journey through Macedonia.

6Perhpas I will stay with you for the winter that you will prepare and send me on my next journey to wherever God is leading.

7For I am not going to stop to seeing you now because I would only be passing through. Lord willingly I plan to stay awhile and spend quality time with you.

8So I will stay at Ephesus until the feast of Pentecost.

9God has opened up a great door to minister although there also many who oppose me.

10If Timothy visits you comfort and honor him because like me he is a sincere servant of God.

11Do not allow anyone to disrespect Timothy. When Timothy leaves send him back to me with your blessing. I also expect other believers to accompany Timothy.

12I pleaded with Apollos to come visit you with other believers but he was not willing to come at this time. He will come to you in the future when he has the opportunity.

13Live your lives on high alert. Be permanently fixed in the faith. Live your life in the boldness and strength of the Almighty One.

14Allow God’s love to control everything you do.

15Remember how the household of Stephanas were the first men of Achaia to be won to Christ? Now they have devoted their entire lives to looking after other believers.

16 My friends I command you to submit your lives to them and anyone else who serves with such devotion.

17I am very glad Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus have come. For the have supplied what was lacking.

18They have have refreshed my spirit just as they also spiritually encouraged you. Make sure you demonstrate your gratitude to those who serve you.

19The churches in Asia send greetings to you. Aquila, Priscilla and all in their house church emphatically greet you in the Lord.

20All the believers here send their greetings to you. Greet each other with sincere love.

21I PAUL WRITE YOU THIS GREETING IN MY OWN WRITING.

22If any man does not sincerely love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. May the Lord return soon!

23May the grace (divine empowerment) of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

24My love to all of you in Christ Jesus. Amen.
