1 Peter commentary.
1 Peter 1
1 I, Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, write this letter to God’s chosen people living as foreigners across the entire world.
Because you have been chosen by God you are no longer apart of the world.
2God the Father knew you before you were born and chose you before the earth was created. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, God has made you His elect child and His spirit is continually working in your heart to make you pure and holy. May God’s divine empowerment and peace be multiplied to you that this process would be complete!
You are the very reason the Father created the earth. He did this only so He could have relationship with you. Gods sole motivation and purpose in all intervention thought history has been for one purpose, to know you his most precious child. It is incredible just to be a child of God and have the hope of knowing him when this life ends. But God could not wait this long so He sent His Spirit into our hearts so we could personally know him today.
3Continually worship and glorify God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for his profuse mercy awakening us from spiritual deadness to a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
It is important to continually reflect on the incredible mercy of God to cultivate an awe and reverence for our Father. He rescued us from death and misery and has translated us into eternal splendor. How can we ever thank him enough?
4 Now we live every waking and breathing moment in great expectation of our heavenly inheritance, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of chance and decay,
The Christian is not merely a spectator gazing through a window into heaven somewhere. We are already seated with Christ in the heavenly realm. According to Scripture our citizenship is in heaven. It is impossible to obtain citizenship to a country you just visit once in a while. As Christians our life is continually ever present in the heavenly realm. This is where we have our existence and where we belong.
5 Through faith, God is protecting you by his power until you are mature and able to receive your full inheritance, which is ready to be revealed in the final chapters of history.
As spiritual infants the Father is watching over us and protecting us from our own ignorance. As children lack common sense and often walk right into dangerous situations, we do this spiritually. Our Father is continually protecting you but longs for you to grow up and be able to walk on your own two feet fully living in your full inheritance as his children.
6So be exhilarated with great joy. Though you will endure many trials in your earthly life, be comforted and take great joy knowing
7 These trials are only purifying and growing your faith (trust and dependence on God) and demonstrating to the entire world your faith is genuine. Your faith is being refined like gold to bring glory, honor and praise to Jesus Christ when He is revealed to the world.
Every earthly experience is helping us to spiritually grow up and walk in full inheritance as God’s children.
Faith dependence on our heavenly Father unlike natural children the more we grow up spiritually the more we depend on our heavenly Father! Growing in faith is growing in dependence. The more you know your Father the more you are able to depend on him. The more you depend on the Father the greater faith you will have.
8How great is your faith! Though you have not seen him, you love and trust him with all your heart and even now he brings you a joy that words cannot express and which has in it a hint of the glories of Heaven.
This life is only a shadow of what is to come. Every earthly joy can only properly tasted and experienced beyond he shores of this life. Your Father yearns to flood your hear with the glorious o heaven every waking moment of every waking day.
Why do you settle to think about such pathetic things. Any thought outside of eternity is only an illusion of your own imagination and a waste of time because one day it will no longer exist.
Oh let my love with fervor burn, And from the world now let me turn;
Living for Thee, and Thee alone, Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;
Only one life, “twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.
Only one life, yes only one, Now let me say, “Thy will be done”;
And when at last I’ll hear the call, I know I’ll say ‘twas worth it all”;
Only one life,’ twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.
poem written by C.T. Studd
Only that which lived for God shall remain
9and all the time you are continually receiving the result of your faith in him, even the salvation of your souls.
Walking higher up and further into eternity each day. Our Spirits have been awakened to new life but God is not stopping there but is redeeming our entire being spirit soul and body. As we grow in relationship and dependence on our Father the transformation of new creation life permeates through our entire being.
10God told the prophets of old of this salvation. They spent their entire lives to searching for this salvation but it was not delivered to them only to you by Christ.
We so fail to realize how fortunate we are. We read the OT and think it would be so great to be Moses or David yet David desired with all of his heart to walk in the reality of relationship with His Lord psalms 110
11 They wondered what time or situation the Spirit of Christ within them was talking about when he told them in advance about Christ’s suffering and his great glory afterward.
12 They were told that their messages were not for themselves, but for you. And now this Good News has been announced to you by those who preached in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It is all so wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these things happen.
God kingdom message can only awaken hearts when the person of the Holy Spirit is speaking to us directly.
Live a Life Worthy of the Call: All Heaven is Watching & All Creation is Waiting
13Wake up your mind to be ready to run and live at full capacity. Live in constant anticipation of God’s divine empowerment to be given to you through a continual revelation of Jesus Christ;
Galatians 2 Paul personally experienced Jesus Christ revealing Himself in Paul. The more Christ is personally revealed in us the greater divine empowerment we walk in. Christ in you is the hope of living in the complete essence lf all Gods power and dominion (glory). Christ in you awakens your heart to be all that He is. Christ is you is the realization and the very essence of living as the visible representation and complete expression of Jesus Christ on this earth.
14Live as God’s obedient children. Do not conform back to the ways of the world pretending that you do not know any better!
15God is holy, and as His child your heavenly Father has given you the privilege to be holy in everything you do, so you to be just like him in every way.
God longs for us to be just like Him so we can be in perfect relationship with Him. God cannot associate with darkness. He longs to know you completely so he says come be like me. Live in my house and love every waking moment in unbroken fellowship with me.
16As He wrote centuries ago to Moses our Father’s desire all along has been for his children to holy as he is holy.
Everything God has even done is to bring His children into deeper relationship with Himself.
17Like any good father, God does not play favorites. He will judge or reward you based on what you do, so live each day with reverent fear and an awareness your every thought, word and action has eternal consequences.
I don’t understand the way some Christians live. Knowing scripture, knowing what God has said in his word how can we live “normal” lives?
18Live with a constant awareness you have been “ransomed” from the futile way of living based on worldly culture and traditions.
God has rescued us from the slavery of the world. What slave after being rescued would even consider returning to slavery?
19 Seize every moment because the ransom came at a great, the precious blood of Christ, a perfect sacrifice without spot or blemish:
Knowing the great cost God paid to set you free how can you even consider going back to the worlds ways?
Those living insignificant lives have failed to recognized the great price Christ paid for their freedom. Those living eternally significant lives seize every moment recognize the incredible price their freedom cost.
20 Though you are only beginning to understand this now, God perfectly planned everything before the foundation of the world,
21 That through Christ you would into a personal relationship with your Heavenly Father. Continue to grow in this relationship so that your faith and hope might be completely in God, that he would be most glorified.
What an incredible plan. God is most glorified when you are walking in deepest relationship possible. This is how to really glorify God in your life.
Let your life match your high calling of Christ.
22Continue to purify your souls by actively living the truth through the Spirit, practically demonstrating a fervent, genuine love for one another in word and deed.
Can you see our absolute need for the Holy Spirit? Only the Holy Spirit can continually transform and purify our entire being spirit, soul and body.
23By the eternal Word of God you have been born again, not to a temporary life that will end, but to a new life that will last forever.
Has this really sunk in? Does this reality permeate your everyday existence?? Right now you have already begun and are living in a life that will never end. The end of your earthy life is only a transition from one chapter to the next.
24Human beings are finite temporal creatures with the lifespan of grass, and even the legacy of man lasts as long as a flower. At a moment’s notice the grass suddenly dies, and the flower vanishes and is forever forgotten:
When you feel like you are important or make plans to build a legacy you need to remind yourself you are just grass the will one day die. Anything you build on the is earth will be consumed by fire only those moments invested in eternal things will last.
25But the word of the Lord endures forever. This is the message of the Gospel that was preached to you.
Gods word is the only eternal thing in this temporal world!! Analogy of continually gazing through the window of eternal reality a constant reminder of what is real!!
Every moment of our lives lived following Gods word will also endure forever. Any moment living for anything else will be forever lost.
1 Peter 2
Feel a righteous anger towards all evil behavior. Like a meticulous gardener be careful to weed all deceit, hypocrisy, jealous and all speech contrary to God’s word out of your life.
Freewill is a reality. God is not going to force you to weed out these ugly things from our hearts. He yearns to empower you by his spirit but He is waiting for you to come to surrender and allow him to follow his perfect plan for your life.
2Like newborn infants, yearn for and seek after the spiritual nourishment of God’s word, so you will grow into a full experience of salvation and live in the fullness of your inheritance as a child of God. Continue in His Word always that you may continually taste of His goodness.
Jeremiah 29:13 when you get serious about finding me. When you desire me more than anything else you will find me. Do you hunger for God more than food or anything else in life? My soul hungers for you!
4You are coming to Christ who is the living cornerstone of God’s spiritual temple. He was rejected by people but was chosen by God for this great honor.
5You also are living stones God is building into his spiritual temple. As children of God you are a group of very special delegates with the specific task of ministering to God and you have the responsibility to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Are you aware of the incredible honor and privilege you have? You are far more prestigious than the richest billionaires, the most famous celebrities and far more powerful than any world leader.
6As God has said, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him will never be confounded.
7Those who trust him recognize the honor God has given him. But to those who reject him, the stone which the builders rejected, has now become the cornerstone,
Do you fully recognize and understand the honor God has given Jesus Christ?
8And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence. They stumble because they do not believe and obey God’s word and so they meet their appointed fate.
Stumbling occurs when we make Gods word fit into our beliefs instead of allowing Gods word to form our beliefs.
9But you are a chosen generation, a group of royal delegates with the specific task of ministering directly to God, a holy nation and a peculiar of people who are God’s very own children. In this role your mission is to demonstrate to others the goodness of God. For how could you do anything less in response to him transferring you from gross darkness and delivering you into marvelous light.
How can you do anything less than devote your every breath and entire existence to God? Romans 12 it’s the only logical response to what God has done. When a slave is rescued he owes his life and entire existence to the one who rescued him.
Your reasonable service is to offer your body and entire life as a living sacrifice with your every breath and entire existence completely devoted and set apart to God. This is how he is most glorified. This is your mission and how you will demonstrate Gods goodness to others.
10Before God came into your life you had no identity, but now you are part the people of God: In the past you received no mercy, but now you are God’s child and live daily in his mercy and grace.
We need to live fully aware what our lives would be like apart from Gods grace. Far too often we take this most precious gift for granted. Living with an awareness of what life would be like awakens a desperate hunger and dependence on his grace in our daily lives. Additionally you will always thankful knowing no matter what you are facing today, life would be infinitely worse if you did not have His grace.
11Dearly friends, I warn you with great urgency live “as temporary residents and foreigners of this world. Flee from all worldly desires that seek to destroy your soul;
Do you live as if this world is your home? Do you live with great urgency as if your short foreign residency on this planet might end at any point? This life is not our home only a short business trip our Father has sent us on. Lot was a righteous man but if your heart is continually dulled things of the world you will be unable to hear from God’s heart. Abraham was very successful in he worlds eyes yet Hebrews records he lived as a temporary foreigner searching for a city with eternal foundations. As a result Abraham was very close to God and knew His heart. Lot was totally oblivious to what God was doing and apart from Abraham’s intercession Lot would have died because got complacent and started living as if this world was his home.
12Be careful how you live because everyone is watching. Even if they disrespect you, they will see your godly lifestyle and be compelled to turn to God in their day of visitation.
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill. Do you realize you are the visible tangible representation of God on the earth? Every individual in your sphere of influence will determine their precept of God based on your actions.
13Honor all human authority and in doing so you will honor God. 14God has sent our political leaders to punish those who do wrong and to honor those who do right.
Think about all those in authority in your life. How can you change your actions to treat them with a greater reverence and honor.
15 God’s plan is to use your honorable lives to silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you.
Your godly life will silence all critics and skeptics. All effective evangelism begins with a godly lifestyle and a sincere love for other people. St Francis of Assisi – go into all the world and preach the gospel and if necessary use words. Our actions always speak louder than our words. How can you grow in godliness and love to become a better light to all of those in your sphere of influence?
16God has made you free. Don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil but as an opportunity to further God’s kingdom in the earth as a servant of God.
As fallen human beings we were slaves to sin. Now got has set us free to choose who we will follow. God has an incredible plan for your lives beyond your wildest dreams yet he will not force you to follow it. He has given you he choice. Many Christians don’t realize Gods incredible plan and choose to follow other paths. Pray for God to awaken your heart to see his incredible plan because when you see his plan you will refuse to settle for anything else.
17Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God and respect those who in authority over your life.
18 If you are workers or students you must be subject to those in authority over you, respecting them when they are both present and absent. Be respectful and obedient even if they mistreat you.
Do you talk about and act the same around authority figures both when they are present and absent?
19For God is pleased with you and rewards those who patiently endure unfair treatment.
20 But know that you will get no credit to you if you are patient in bearing a punishment which you have richly deserved! But God is honored and very pleased if you honor him and patiently endure unjust treatment.
21For this is part of your calling as a follower of Christ. Christ suffered for us, leaving us an example. Now He has called us to follow in his footsteps.
Are you following in Christ’s footsteps?
Little children enjoy all the blessings Of their parents without having to think about responsibilities. However as children grow up their parents give them more responsibilities. As infants in Christ Our Father showers down his blessings because he recognizes our helplessness. As we grow God matures our perspective and transition focus from self to others. He calls us to follow in Christ’s footsteps and even though he had it all, he laid down his life for other. Now Christ calls us to do the same.
‘Who committed no sin, nor was guile found in his mouth’. Yet when he was insulted he offered no insult in return. When he suffered he made no threats of revenge. He simply committed his cause to the one who judges fairly. And he personally bore our sins in his own body on the cross, so that we might be dead to sin and be alive to all that is good. It was the suffering that he bore which has healed you. You had wandered away like so many sheep, but now you have returned to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.
1 Peter 3
1In the same way wives should accept the authority of your husbands. Even if your husband rejects God, your godly example will speak louder than words and 2they will be won over by observing your reverent life in action.
Your life not words is the most testimony and evidence of Gods existence.
3Do not waste time thinking about and pursuing outward beauty, exquisite jewelry or expensive clothes. All these things will be destroyed and then you will be naked and ugly.
4Instead pursue the beauty that is lasting and eternal, so that you will never be naked. Cloth yourself with the beauty that comes from within, a gentle and quiet spirit is the most precious and valued type of beauty in God’s sight.
Imagine if we spent as much time and effort into clothing ourselves with inward beauty as we do with outward beauty.
5For this is how the holy women in the bible who trusted in God made themselves beautiful. Not only that they also respected their husbands.
6For example Sara obeyed Abraham and honored him. You are Sarah’s true descendents when you honor your husbands and do not live in hysterical fears.
7Likewise, husbands should seek to understand their wives, always helping and supporting them with strenuous tasks as they physiologically designed to be less strong than men. Yet both men and woman are equal heirs in divine empowerment of eternal life. If you do not honor your wife, your prayers will be powerless.
Do you realize both men and women have been created in God’s image? The way you treat your spouse and fellow human beings made in the image of God is an expression of how you treat God Himself.
8Finally, all of you should be of one mind and live like brothers by expressing true compassion and love for each other. Be tender hearted and keep a humble attitude.
Actions speak louder than words. How we treat others will Is actually demonstrating to others is God is real or not. The early church lived with such compassion many could see God directly through their actions.
9Don’t repay evil for evil, or retaliate with insults when people insult you. Bless them instead. For this is what God has called you to do and he will most assuredly reward you for it.
This is easy to read but much more difficult to live. Do you really believe God sees your actions and He will reward you? So often God longs to bless us but we miss out on God’s blessings when we fail to put this verse into practice.
10If you want to maximize your joy and happiness and length of your life, refrain from speaking one evil word, and do not tell a single lie:
11Depise evil, and do good; diligently seek and pursue peace with all people.
How badly do you want to maximize your joy and length of your life? It is so easy to superficially read over this verse and think well that sounds like a nice idea. God really means what He says. He cannot lie. In fact the Father so often reminds us these promises because He Longs for us to daily live in them so He can bless us, maximize our joy and live a long life.
12For the eyes of the Lord are continually fixated on the righteous, and his ears are open to hear their prayers. But the Lord refuses to look at those who continually do evil.
Do you want God’s full attention all the time? Imagine the Creator of the Universe totally fixated on you 24/7. Imagine His hears straining to hear your every word and immediately hearing and responding to you every prayer! I desperately long to live like this so I daily strive to become more righteous and I don’t want to do anything that would inhibits relationship with my Father.
13 Who would try to harm you for trying to do good?
14But even if ye suffer for doing what is right, be exceedingly joyful. Don’t worry or give thought to their threats.
15Instead set your heart and mind apart to continually think about God. Always look for opportunities to demonstrate in a sincere and reverent manner the hope you have within you.
How can you take hold of every moment to glorify God?
16Make sure you are living pure and righteously, so that if men should speak slanderously of you, they will be ashamed and convicted by your holy life.
Does your life convict and compel others to change their behavior and follow Christ? My nonChristian friends change the way they act when I am around because they have such a high respect for me.
17If it is the will of God that you should suffer, God will reward for suffering unjustly, but there is no reward for suffering if you deserved it.
18For Christ was perfect but suffered for us the unjust to bring us back home to God. He suffered physical death, but was resurrected to life in the Spirit.
As human beings we are creatures of comfort and avoid suffering. What is more important to you, avoiding suffering or following God? Many believers miss out on God’s incredible plan for their lives because they are not willing to follow through suffering.
19In the Spirit Jesus went and preached to the imprisoned souls; who had been disobedient.
20 In the days of Noah when the people of the earth acted so wickedly exhausting God’s great patience. Only eight people were saved by going into the ark when God poured out a flood of his mercy to remove such wickedness off the face of the earth.
Some individuals wonder how can a good God destroy people? This was not an act of destruction but an act of mercy. God intervened because the human race had become so corrupt apart from His intervention the human race would have destroyed itself.
21Being baptized into Christ, we have entered into Christ our ark of safety and complete security. Baptism is far more than getting wet, having entered into Christ you are now forever safe and secure in Him. In baptism you experience Christ’s resurrection and rising from the dead.
Baptism is an outward declaration to totally living in Christ. You are drowning and completely ending your old life and Christ raises you up as a new creation fully dependent and living in God. Your past life no longer exists and now your only mission in life is to fulfill the mission the Father has sent you on.
22And now he is in Heaven at the right hand of God and all the angels, authorities and powers serve Him.
Like virtual simulation Jesus is with you right now empowering you from heaven. Yet Our citizenship is in heaven and as we abide in Christ, we are seated in places of authority and power with Jesus Himself in heavenly places.
1 Peter 4
1Since Christ blend and died for you, you must be ready to suffer too. You must realize that to be dead to sin inevitably means pain.
Are you willing to suffer for the sake of the cross. Even Jesus prayed Father is it your will take this cup from me nevertheless your will be done! How deeply are you committed to following God?
2Do not spend another moment of your life chasing your own desires. Instead find God’s plan for your life and learn how to live in it every day.
How much of your daily life do you spend thinking and planning to pursue your earthly desires. God has created us with a void in our hearts that only His perfect plan cn fulfill. It’s a tragedy many believers spend their entire lives pursuing earthly desires when God alone can satisfy our hearts. Surrender to your Father because He longs to lead you in His perfect plan for your life and completely satisfy your heart.
3No more wasting time! In your old life you enjoyed may have enjoyed immorality, lust, idolatry, feasting, drunkenness and wild parties but you are no longer that person anymore.
Do you realize your old life no longer exists and you are a completely different person? This life is so short you dont have a moment to waste living like you used to.
4Beware your former friends will think you are crazy and reject you because you are no longer the person you used to be.
Old friends often drag us back into our old life style. They are used to the old you and when hey discover you are a different person many will reject you.
5Pray for them because they will have to face God, who will judge everyone, both the living and the dead.
6For this reason the Gospel was preached to those who are dead, that it might judge the lives they lived in the flesh, but give hoping allowing them to share the eternal life of God in the spirit.
God is faithful to ensure every person has an opportunity to follow Him. At judgment day no one will be able to plead for ignorance and say I never knew.
7The end of this present world is at hand: So live with great self control, always listening and seeking wisdom from God in prayer.
Do you live every day as if it is your last? Are you aware you are in the final chapters of history? Time is short we need to live every moment continually listening and seeking to know God’s heart in prayer. God tells us to live in continual conversation with Him and pray without ceasing.
8Most important of all make sure you are expressing sincere love for others knowing how love will cover the multitude of sins.
9Be hospitable to each other without secretly wishing you didn’t have to be.
The love of God is the most powerful force in the universe. It will transform lives, awaken our churches and compel individuals to follow Christ.
10God has given each of you particular gifts to help others and make the world a better place. This is no light matter, you must be a faithful steward of the diverse forms of divine empowerments God has given you.
God has created you for a specific earthly mission and He has equipped you with every gift you will need to fulfill your earthly mission. Did you know God will judge your life based on how effectively you used the gifts He has given you to complete your earthly mission. The tragedy is the majority of Christians do not even know their areas of gifting and the earthly mission God has called them to fulfill. If you don’t know this how on earth can you fulfill it? Pray and ask God to lead your steps. Fulfilling your mission begins with a fully surrendered life.
11If you have the gift of speaking, don’t speak your own words but learn to speak God’s heart; If you have the gift of helping others do it as of the divine empowerment God provides: that God alone would be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To Him be all glory and power forever and ever. Amen.
We must continually seek God’s divine empowerment because it is the only way we can be faithful stewards of our gifts. God can only be glorified when He is working through us to far exceed human ability.
12Dear friends do not be surprise when fiery ordeals come to challenge your faith, this is not unusual and every believer will certainly experience this.
13Rejoice because you walking in Christ’s very shoes; and when his glory is revealed to you world you will be filled with great joy.
In life W try to avoid difficult circumstances and suffering however these things situations are an incredible blessing because they force us to more completely rely on God and bring us into a deeper relationship with Him.
14Be happy when you are shamed for the name of Christ, for then the spirit of glory and of God rests upon
you. Even at moments when others shame Him, He will be more glorified in you.
I need to honestly ask myself everyday, am I concerned more about personal comfort or God being glorified through my life?
15Do not suffer for doing wrong such as being a murderer, thief, evildoer, or for prying into other peoples’ lives.
16If you suffer for being a Christian, do not be ashamed; but glorify and thank God for this privilege.
Suffering is a privilege? I pray God would help us to clearly see His perspective on suffering.
17The time is here where we must seriously examine our lives in light of God’s word. This must begin take place in each individual and corporately in God’s bride, the church. If judgment begins with us, imagine what it will be like for those who refuse to obey the gospel of God?
As believers we need to daily surrender our lives to God and ask Him to reveal anything contrary to His Word. If we judge ourselves now we will not be condemned at the final judgment. If we allow God to judge son and transform our lives we will be able to appear blameless before Him on that day. With all my heart I want to reach the end of my life and hear those words well done good and faith child!
18And if the righteous is barely saved, what will happen to the ungodly?
19When you suffer according to the will of God, trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you.
Do you trust your Father with all your heart? Despite the storms of life may make you feel like you are drowning your Father is always with you. In the storms of life your heavenly Father is your life jacket who is wrapped around you and keeping you afloat. No matter what happens your life jacket will always keep you afloat. In like manner, your heavenly Father will always keep you.
1 Peter 5
1As a personal word from elder to elder, I witnessed the sufferings of Christ, and I too will share in the glory that shall be revealed.
2 I write to the flock God has entrusted to you. Make sure your motives are right. Unless you sincerely care for every person you should not be in leadership.
To be a leader in the kingdom of God requires you to become the servant of all. Until you have become a servant you are not fit to lead.
3Do not try to control people but lead them by your godly example.
Our most persuasive argument is not in words but living a godly lifestyle. The best way to lead others to holy living is your own godly example.
4And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a never ending crown of glory and honor.
Are you living in such a way to obtain this high calling? When Christ appears will you run out to meet Him or hide on shame because you squandered this life on temporal pursuits?
5Likewise, young people submit yourselves to the elders. All Christians should serve each other in humility for God opposes the proud, but divinely empowers the humble.
6For this reason, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God and he will lift you up in his perfect timing.
7Put your entire life in God’s hands and let him solve all your problems; for you are his personal concern.
Your mind is unable to fathom how deeply your Father cares for you. Your Father is waiting for you to give Him complete control of every area of your life so He can solve all your problems and fulfill His perfect plan for your life. He will not override your freewill so as long as you try to control your life you are only preventing Him from accomplishing His perfect plan for your life.
8 Be aware and on guard because the devil wants to kill you. He goes around like a lion looking for spiritually weak prey.
9Resist him by putting your complete and dependence on God. This is very important because the enemy is trying to destroy every believer. The only way to defeat the enemy is to completely depend on God.
No amount of human faith, endurance or resolve will defeat the enemy. So many believers try to overcome the enemy in their own strength but fail miserably. Overcoming power is found in God alone. The key to living in complete victory is continually abiding in close relationship with your Father. If we live in right relationship with our Father we are hidden in the secret place of the most high and the enemy cannot even see us! We are hidden and under the cover of our Father’s glory and presence.
10You will suffer for a brief moment but your Heavenly Father (who has called you to eternal glory by Christ Jesus) will divinely empower you to be complete and perfect as a child in his arms.
The enemy can orchestrate temporal circumstances to provide the illusion he is harming us but this is only an illusion because if our lives are surrendered God will take anything the enemy intends for evil and orchestrate it for our good.
11To him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen.
12I have written this letter ( which I have sent to you by Silvanus a faithful brother in the Lord) to exhort you and ensure you are fully aware and completely embracing the divine empowerment God has made available to each one of you.
Are you fully aware the infinite divine empowerment of all heaven is available to you as a child of God? We live so below the power and authority our Father has given us as His children. How can you surrender your life and daily walk in the divine power God has given you?
13Your sister church in Babylon, sends you greetings; and so does Mark my son.
14Embrace each other in the fullness of Christian love. Peace be with you all who are permanently fixed in Christ Jesus. Amen.
True peace in life is only possible when our hearts are completely fixed in Christ. If you are not experiencing peace ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you in a deeper way.
How can you daily demonstrate and express the love of God to other believers?
